Black Xbox 360 Rumors Are (Mostly) False

Gameworld Network news story: "The supposed photos of the 'new' black 360 are in fact photos of a reviewer kit made in 2005. Here's proof.

Various web sites are continuing to proclaim that a black Xbox 360 is in the works. And while there is no question that Microsoft will eventually release new colors for the console, the recent photos that were alleged to be evidence of an impending black version are in fact just photos of an old reviewer's kit, produced on September 14, 2005 according to the sticker on the back!

Most people know that reviewer's kits of the Xbox 360 are black in color, yet these web sites are still fooling people into believing that photos of said reviewer kit at various trade shows are somehow evidence of a new product to be release very soon, despite the fact that the black reviewer kits (and photos of them) have been floating around since the Xbox 360 launched in 2005!

If any of these sites bothered to take a closer look at the photos they would have realised this. Instead, they proceeded to publish stories claiming the photos were 'proof' of the rumored black version. And then they wondered why the photos were missing an HDMI port and larger hard drive. How stupid can people be?

We are not denying that a black 360 could be on the way very "

Fight Night elbowing its way onto the Wii?

Nintendo Wii Fanboy: "While it's still in the discussion stages -- don't listen when your buddy runs up, throws a left hook, and dances around your prone form crowing about Fight Night -- it does seem that there's a good chance that EA's boxing game will make an appearance on the Wii. In an interview with Doghouseboxing.com, producer Michael Blank focused on the need to tailor the controls and the foundation laid in Wii Sports to accommodate the level of detail and realism in Fight Night. We don't think it'll take as much work as they insinuate (Blank is trying hard to distance his boxing sim from the simplistic play in Wii Sports), but at the same time, it's heartening to hear an EA rep say that they're not going to port a game unless they can do it right.

Of course, that doesn't mean that's what's going to happen. After all, Fight Night Round 3 went to the PSP. But a girl can dream, can't she?"

Gamefly's rental/request chart still has 360 on top - PS3 Fanboy

PS3 Fanboy: "As long as Gamasutra keeps posting these GameFly rental/request charts, we feel obligated to do the same. Without further ado, here's what's on people's minds this week (hint -- 360 still takes the top 3 spots overall):
XBox 360

* Crackdown
* NBA Street Homecourt
* Lost Planet

Wii

* Sonic and the Secret Rings
* Mario Party 8
* Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

PlayStation 3

* Virtua Fighter 5
* Sonic the Hedgehog
* Major League Baseball 2k7

PlayStation 2

* God of War II
* Rogue Galaxy
* Ghost Rider
That should do it. Kind of surprising that Sonic is still on the PS3 chart -- not like we've really got much else to look at recently. That'll change soon, we hope and/or surmise. What about all of you? Been renting a couple of those listed here?"

Halo 3 Beta: Phase Two of Registration is Now Closed

TeamXbox: "Microsoft and Bungie announced today that ohase two of registration for the Halo 3 multiplayer beta is now closed. If you were one of the first 13,333 gamers to meet the 'Rule of Three' program eligibility requirements* you would have received an email notification in the last 24 hours.

For those of you that didn't make it, don't worry. There is still one more way to secure entry into the Halo 3 multiplayer public beta: purchase a copy of the upcoming game Crackdown before the Halo 3 beta period. "

Superbowl XLI Colts 360 Case Mod on Ebay

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "Americans love their Football, and the annual Super Bowl that comes with it. But the question is, do they love it enough to buy Super Bowl XLI case mod off eBay? Seller stevenkeno29 seems to think so, as he has an auction (with an astounding 0 bids) up for a Blue Indianapolis Colts themed Xbox 360 and controller, complete with Super Bowl XLI logos and images on the other side. The auction closes on Valentine's Day, so if this interests you, then you may as well step on it and get bidding. More images after the break.

Quake Wars confirmed for Xbox 360

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "Id Software confirmed today that Quake Wars: Enemy Territory will be arriving on the Xbox 360. The 360 version is being developed by Nerve Software, best known for their expansions to games like Doom 3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Quake Wars sets players in an epic struggle between humanity and a malicious alien race known as the Strogg. The game will support up to 16 players and features strategic team play, deployable structures, and both land and air vehicles. Players can choose from five different classes and will enjoy persistent character promotions and plenty of online stat tracking. Quake Wars is expected as early as April 2007 for the PC; hopefully we won't be waiting too long for the 360 version. Keep in mind though, this is an id Software title, so 'it's done when it's doneĀ®.'"

Leaked Halo 3 alpha video w/ Halo 1 pistol

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "We may not get much official love from Bungie lately (though we did enjoy the Brute ViDoc), but we're sure getting plenty of unofficial content. This time we have yet another leaked Halo 3 alpha video. This one is seriously shaky cam but it's a doozy. You'll get to see the Mongoose, the new Spiker, and (drum roll, please) the pistol from Halo 1. Don't get your hopes too high, as it could easily be a placeholder graphic, and even if it's not, it doesn't mean the pistol will be as powerful as it once was. As an added bonus, you'll get to see the camera man get wasted by the Spartan Laser. Hit the 'read' link to watch the video. You'd better do it quick, too. There's no telling how quickly it'll be pulled."
