PS3 Shipping Without HDMI Cable?

Just a quick update on the PS3. It's been confirmed that the PlayStation 3 will not ship with an HDMI cable. After Sony's been talking up how they will be "true HD", and how HDMI will kick component's ass, they now decide they can't spring the $5 for an HDMI cable?

We can't tell you why the GPU lost nearly 10% of it's clock, it could be an NVidia screwup, or it could be Sony/Cell. Either way, it just became much less of an overwhelming value, but you get a DRM infected drive for 'free' either way.

Rumours: Wii Sports to have 30 Games? More

According to the latest issue of EGM, rumour has it that Wii Sports will carry 30 Games that would obviously include Tennis, Golf and Baseball. What would the 30 games be? Or perhaps they are 30 different variations of a sport or just modes? Also Rez is rumoured to come to the Wii and PS3 while it seems Resident Evil 5 is exclusive only to the PS3. On a side note it seems that Square-Enix plans to release a Final Fantasy XIII title on the DS (More Square love means possibly more Wii support).

PlayStation 3 Begins Production

According to a report, about 200 thousand component sets were shipped to Asus in June, which means that the company is set to manufacture 200 thousand game consoles. It is also said that in July the Taiwanese manufacturer will receive higher amount of component sets for the PS3, while in September and October the company will get "more than one million [component] sets.

To say that the lead up to November's launch of the PlayStation 3 has been peppered with pitfalls is an understatement. First and foremost is the price tag: $599 for the top-of-the-line version and $499 for a version with a smaller hard drive, no built-in WiFi support, and perhaps most importantly for a device meant to get Blu-ray into homes everywhere, no support for HDMI.

PSP to Become Virtual PS3?

In an interview with Japan's Nikkei BP, Sony Computer Entertainment corporate executive Izumi Kawanishi, who heads up software platform development at the company, shared some unique visions Sony has for the PSP platform in relation to the PlayStation 3. The title of the article tells it all: "PSP will become a Virtual PS3."

Ubisoft confirms Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft has finally released official confirmation on the existence of an Xbox 360 version of Assassin's Creed, shoving a couple of screenshots from the iteration our way too.

Assassin's Creed on 360 will release alongside the already announced PS3 version of the game next year. A PC outing is also in the pipeline too, of course - though Ubi still remains coy on gaming's worst kept secret.
