Xbox Live's Major Nelson : Show #190 The PAX panel one

A rather unusual show today, as I recorded the panel I moderated today called 'Blogphotopodcasting: New Media in the Game Industry' at the Penny Arcade Expo.
On the panel are:
Brian Crecente (Kotaku)
Christopher Grant (Joystiq)
MC Wilson (Broadcast Gamer)
Julianne Greer (The Escapist)

Xbox 360 eventually $149-$199

"We built the Xbox 360 Core system so that we could get to $199 or $149 sometime", also saying he didn't think the PS3 could achieve such a low price. Although Microsoft is very clear that there won't be a price drop this fall, it looks like eventually the 360 could cost as low as the original Xbox."

Unreal 2007 is coming to Xbox 360

According to those who've had a few drinking words with our friends at Epic, Unreal 2007 is coming to Xbox 360. The reason cited for lack of hearing about this is simply that Gears of War is Epic's priority for the limelight right now (and rightly so).

Viva Pinata presentation

The Game Convention is now almost over on Xboxyde, so it's time for me to put online this big and long presentation video of Viva Pinata. I've been able to record this footage explaining how the game works, and especially how we are able to get some type of Pinata in our garden. Even if this game is definitely aimed at a younger audience, I was surprised by how complex the interactions between the different types Pinatas could be.
The video can get a bit dark at times, it's completely my fault as I forgot to lock the exposure on my camcorder. It's still very watchable.

GUG Game Review: FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus

The story and cutscenes try to make up for what's lacking in gameplay, and as a fan of FFVII, I think they do a fair job. Sometimes however, the lengthy cutscenes throw a monkey wrench into the gameplay, literally putting your game on hold for 6-10 minutes while you listen to drawn-out and overdramatic dialogue. They do present a lot of history on Vincent however, who was undoubtedly one of the most underrated characters in the original FFVII, so it's nice that they devoted a game solely to him and his somewhat confusing past.
