Xbox 360 Deal: 12 Month Xbox Live Vision Gold Pack

Over the weekend, I came across a great deal. I found on Amazon an Xbox Live Vision/Xbox Live Gold bundle at a price worth reporting on TeamXbox.com.

Although many of you may already know about this bundle, I bet you didn't know about such a low price. On most game stores it sells for $80 but Amazon has it for only $65.95 and it qualifies for FREE shipping.

You get an Xbox Live Vision Camera, one year of Xbox Live Gold, an Xbox 360 Headset, two Xbox Live Arcade games: Uno and Robotron, plus 200 Microsoft Points.

If you buy those items separately, you'll have to spend $140. If getting the same thing for less than half the standard price is not a deal, then tell me what that is!

Gabe Newell: "PlayStation 3 Is a Total Disaster"

"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It’s really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," Newell told Game Informer magazine. "I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a ‘do over’. Just say, ‘This was a horrible disaster and we’re sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.’"

Live Video Marketplace to generate $92m in '07

Revenue from service could reach $726m by 2011, says report

Microsoft could be in line to make US $92.25 million (EUR 71.32m) through the Xbox Live Video Marketplace in 2007, according to a new report by Emerging Media Dynamics.

Entitled 'Spotlight on Television 2.0 Leaders: Microsoft', the report suggests that revenue from the service, which offers downloadable movie and TV content for the Xbox 360, could reach US $726 million (EUR 561m) by 2011.

The service is only currently available in North America, where Microsoft has partnered with companies such as Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and MTV Networks to deliver movies and TV shows direct to the consumer.

"Xbox 360 has become one of the top distributors of our content direct to consumers' TV sets over the internet," commented Warner Bros. exec Andrew Mellet, last week.

Moving the Xbox 360 into the home entertainment market is one of Microsoft's key goals for the console, with the company recently announcing details of an IPTV service due by 2008.

The service will allow consumers to use the Xbox 360 as a digital recorder, and include crossover features such as the ability to record TV content while playing games.

Specialized 360 for IPTV in the works?

Speaking with Major Nelson in his most recent podcast, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg spoke of the possibility of a specially configured 360 built with IPTV and DVR functions in mind. When questioned about DVR functions and the possibility of a larger HDD, Greengerg said, "clearly the current way the Xbox 360 is designed is not for that ... we did not build this box to be a High Definition DVR." Greenberg further states that it's possible that consumers will eventually purchase some kind of IPTV upgrade (possibly referring only to a larger hard drive) or purchase an IPTV specific 360 "configuration" from a service provider. Greenberg points out that a larger hard drive is really only necessary for DVR functions and that it's possible to run IPTV without a hard drive at all.
