Xbox-Top: Giant Japanese 12-inch LCD for the 360

xbox-360-notebook-computer-converter-announced-20070416081901283.jpgHori's relatively giant, 12-inch, 720p LCD docks with your XBox, bringing it half way towards being tote worthy. I especially appreciate the fact that the screen is essentially the same width and length as the console's side.

The Japan-only screen launches in July, and takes component outputs. It costs around $300, nearly as much as an XBox 360, but other screens tend to range in the 7-inch range, coming in low def res, so let's hope this one comes stateside. One more shot, post jump.

NASCAR 08 Hands-on Preview (Xbox 360)

Enthusiasts have the season mode, online mode. which will now house up to 16 players, and the new VTV heads-up display to toy around with. Newbies can look forward to the standard single race and The Chase that will prep them to deal with the rigors of a NASCAR season. If you can deal with the frustration of getting your feet wet in the NASCAR world, this one is definitely worth keeping an eye on for the next few months until release.

HD DVD and Blu-ray releases on April 17th, 2007

HD DVD is officially back now, with the first week that we can remember where HD DVD has twice as many new titles. Blu-ray only has two catalog titles from Warner this week, both of which have been available on HD DVD for some time. HD DVD also has a few catalog titles, but a few new ones as well including: Feast and School for Scoundrels, both of which include TrueHD sound tracks. Smokin' Aces is arguably the biggest title this week and it's from HD DVDs biggest supporter. We're not sure what happened to the other Blu-ray titles that were previously scheduled today, perhaps the studios decided to wait for BD+ or even some new players with new features.

HD DVD
176 vs Blu-ray 203.

Xbox 360 scratching discs? Maybe, says Microsoft

So far the Xbox 360 has had its fair share of hardware problems, both large and small, and while Microsoft has dealt with most of these challenges by extending warranties and offering up free fixes, it usually takes its own sweet time to come around, which seems to be the case here.

Confirmed: 360 trade-in value increased

Over the past few days there has been a few rumors hitting the web about potential Xbox 360 trade-in prices increasing over at EB Games and Gamestop for the launch of the Elite. Well, we got in touch with a few Gamestop managers and it's true. The promotion started today and dramatically increases the trade-in value for original Xboxes, Xbox 360 Cores, and Xbox 360 Premiums.

If you trade in a Premium 360 they'll give you $250 in-store credit, $200 in-store credit for a 360 Core, and $50 for an original Xbox. These trade-in price have increased pretty dramatically, because last week Gamestop was only paying $190 for an Xbox 360 Premium, now upped by $60. Both Gamestop managers also said that the new trade-in credit does not have to go towards an Xbox 360 Elite, but what other reason would you have for selling your 360? There you have it all wrapped up and confirmed. More trade-in cash for your old Xbox 360 to buy yourself a black Elite if you so choose.
