Microsoft statistics show Xbox 360 games and downloads are popular

The game attachment rate rose to almost 5 games for every Xbox 360 console owner. Not bad considering the PSP & DS owners hover around 3 games per owner on average. Microsoft also announced that 80% of Xbox Live Silver & Gold users have downloaded content from Xbox Live Marketplace, a total number of over 46 million downloads!

Quake 2 on way to Xbox Live Arcade?

News that Quake 2 could well be on the way to Xbox 360 Live arcade. This is the first time this story has come to press as far as I'm aware and there is no media releases by Microsoft or Activision that Quake 2 was in the works.

Sony's Motion Sensing Still Lagging Behind?

"The developers told us that although we'd be using real PS3 controllers, they didn't yet have the motion-sensing functionality built in. And not only that, although they referred to the build as 'feature-complete,' they did admit that the one feature that was not yet included was (wait for it) motion-sensing, although they did 'have some cool ideas.' There was plenty of speculation after Sony's E3 conference that the motion-sensing functionality was jammed into the controller at the last minute as a reaction to Nintendo's strategy. This was backed up by the Warhawk developers' offhand remarks that they'd implemented motion sensing 'in just a couple weeks'."

HD DVD outsells Blu-ray at lower revenues

HD DVD players posted a more successful launch than its Blu-ray rival, at least in terms of the number of players sold. Home Media Retailing quotes an NPD study that found that HD DVD player outsold Blu-ray players by 33% during their first six weeks after launch. HD DVD sales began in April, while Blu-ray players followed in June; the only Blu-ray play currently offered is Samsung's $1000 BD-P1000, while HD DVD players are offered from multiple vendors for prices as low as $450.
