Virtua Tennis 3 1080p, new spectator mode

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "SEGA announced today that Virtua Tennis 3 will be playable in the coveted 1080p resolution. While this means nothing to the majority of gamers out there, it should provide an extra feather for the caps of game industry executives and owners of dumpster sized televisions. Perhaps more interesting than the announcement of 1080p support is the announcement of Virtua Tennis 3's Live features. While the game offers typical ranked and friends matches, it also offers tournament and exhibition play. Best of all, these modes include doubles play. The most interesting feature addition is VT:TV, which will allow players to watch matches in progress. As the press release notes, this makes for a good way to size up your competition (or learn from the top ranked players). Virtua Tennis 3 is expected to release in March."

Mass Effect images

Xboxyde: "Bioware updated the official Mass Effect site with this screen showing a new character/creature from Quarian race, the Galactic Nomads.
Update: 5 more images have just been released."

Another annoying gadget for Live

Xboxic: "Remember back in October we brought you news of a gadget that served no purpose but to annoy? Named SmackTalk, it was set to cause disruption to the Utopia that is Xbox Live. Now, four months on, another annoying gadget is available to buy, entitled “Trash Talk“.

With Trash Talk for Xbox 360, you can insult your enemies at the push of a button. It’s the ultimate weapon to flame, taunt and ridicule your buddies over Xbox Live. Sitting between your game controller and your plug-in headset, Trash Talk gives you a bank of buttons which activate pre-recorded sound clips, letting you assemble your own messages and activate them at will.

You can, of course, record your own taunts and insults to use in the heat of battle. Instead of shouting “gotcha!”, or “everybody follow me” down your microphone, you can just press a button and issue exclamations or instructions automatically. If your Xbox 360 microphone’s on the blink or you simply haven’t got one, by recording the samples on your PC and transferring them to Trash Talk, you can still issue your orders.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles Screenshots

TeamXbox: "The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles is the official expansion for Oblivion – the 2006 RPG and Game of the Year. It features more than 30 hours of new gameplay as you are sent to explore an entirely new plane of Oblivion – the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness.

Shivering Isles adds to the existing world of Oblivion, so you can continue playing with your existing save game/character, or create an all new character just to explore the new content in Shivering Isles. New creatures, weapons, armor, ingredients, branching questlines, and more await in the land of Mania and Dementia. "

Area Man Needs Two More Trips To Best Buy To Beat Xbox 360 Game

The Onion - America's Finest News Source: "MONROEVILLE, PA—Local resident Ronald Franks could be as little as two Best Buy visits away from completing the Xbox 360 video game Gears of War, Franks said Tuesday. 'I told [wife] Susan not to expect me for dinner tonight, because right now I'm at the Train Wreck and I'm about to take on a Berserker,' said Franks, 35, who has been playing the game daily for nearly three weeks and brings his own memory card from home. 'I'm thinking I can get through that pretty quickly because I'll use my sniper rifle. Then it's right to Troika Central to get to the main boss, General RAAM. I'll probably take a personal day to defeat RAAM.' According to Susan Franks, he also spends several hours each weekend at a nearby Barnes & Noble copying the Gears of War Official Strategy Guide onto a legal pad he brings along with him."

Xbox 360 quiets down with new DVD drive

Microsoft has started building its 360s with a new DVD drive manufactured by BenQ-LiteOn-Philips, the BenQ VAD6038, which purportedly runs "super-quiet" in comparison to the previous two drives used by MS, and even speeds up and smooths out load times.
