GameSpot Readers Honor Gears of War

Next Generation: "CNET-owned GameSpot said that results of its annual Readers’ Choice awards were determined by “millions of votes” cast by GameSpot users.

“Nothing ignites a more spirited debate among all of us than a year-end 'Best of' list. Our audience of avid gamers loves to speak their mind about the games they’re playing and do so 24-7 on our site,” said Josh Larson, GameSpot site director. “GameSpot’s Readers’ Choice award program is their annual opportunity to formally recognize their absolute favorites of the year, and millions jump at the chance to be a part of the fun.”

GameSpot issued over 45 Readers' Choice awards. Aside from Microsoft and Epic Games' Gears of War, the other winners were The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for Best Story, Tomb Raider: Legend for Most Improved Sequel, Guitar Hero II for Best Rhythm/Music Game and Company of Heroes for Best Strategy Game.

Arrests made for stealing cancer patient's 360

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "Last week, we were the barer of bad news with the story about a teen bone cancer patient in Vermont who had his Xbox 360 stolen whilst getting surgery in Boston. This week, however, we can bring you as Paul Harvey so eloquently put it, The Rest of the Story. Local authorities arrested two teenagers with expectations of issuing a third related to the January 21st burglary. Both pleaded not guilty to their respective charges. Fortunately, a replacement Xbox 360, complete with games, was delivered to the patient of Massachusetts General Hospital, thanks largely in part to the $11,000 raised his teammates to help cover the family's expenses. We're glad to see justice being served in this situation, and the fellow fanboy not having to endure being 360-less for long."
