New (dirty) SEGA Rally Revo screens

SEGA has finally lifted the veil on it's latest Rally installment SEGA Rally Revo by showing of a few in game screenshots. It looks good, it looks dirty, and looks heavy on the motion blur effects, but we're not sure how much more we're supposed to get from these screens. SEGA promises to re-energize the Rally franchise with dynamically breakable obstacles, bumper to bumper action, and a flurry of two and four wheel vehicles. Can it compete with Colin McRae: DIRT? We'll just have to wait and see this fall when SEGA's Rally Revo makes its dirty debut on the 360.

360 to have a longer lifespan than the Xbox

Picking up the original Xbox back in November 2001 (March 2002 for Europeans) would have filled you with pride, until you developed a hernia and had to put it back down again, such was the size of the thing. You were proud to own the most powerful console on the market, and thought you had many more years to come. Not so, after production stopped in August 2005 of the machine, you knew that a new version was on the way, that of the 360, and probably felt a bit annoyed that a console that promised so much only delivered for four years. Peter Moore has now semi-rectified the situation, by stating that the current Xbox will have a considerably larger lifespan than that of its predecessor.

In an interview with EGM, Peter Moore states that they will support the 360 for as long as it keeps selling. Rather strange considering the Xbox was still selling quite well until they ditched production. Although they were making considerable losses on the Xbox, something they attempted to change in this generation. And as we all know, the longer a console sells, the cheaper it eventually gets (Sony must be praying!).

He goes on to say that the guys who worked on the 360 are now looking into what types of CPUs will be available come 2011-2012. This therefore means that the 360 would have an approximate life cycle of six to seven years. Considerably better than that of the Xbox.

It’s interesting to hear again that the development team are already working, or at least thinking and planning, about the next Xbox incarnation. Thankfully it is some way off yet, so don’t panic and hold off buying a 360 if you haven’t got one already. The ultimate question though still remains the same: forget the future, who will win this new-generation War? Who will lead into the next generation?

Rumor: GTA IV to be in New York City?

While we're going to categorize this as a rumor until we get a better insight upon the release of the trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV on the 29th, it definitely is worth consideration. Apparently, word on the street is that GTA IV will be taking place in New York City and have NYC stylized music. When we first got wind of this, the first thing that popped into our heads was, "Uh, wasn't the Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto I, GTA III, San Andreas, and Liberty City Stories supposed to be at the very least an homage to New York City (with a hint of New Jersey)?"

If you look at the map for Liberty City from GTA I (pictured above), it's even more apparent. Or this could be a completely new direction for Rockstar, where instead of doing fictional places that are inspired by real world locations, they cut the middle man as it were, and just use the actual city. Either way, we could see a return to Liberty City, or Rockstar's rendition of the real life counter part. Which would you rather play in?

A handful of unofficial Fable 2 dog shots

Sure, we've heard plenty about Fable 2's new dog -- we talk about it at length in the latest Fancast -- but only those of us lucky enough to have been at GDC have actually seen it (outside of a few blurry shots that is). Luckily for us, our friends from GayGamer.net were sitting right next to us at the presentation and bagged a handful of decent shots of the dog in action. They also managed to snap a shot of Bowerstone, the game's central city. As you gaze at all the buildings and shops in the photo, remember that you can buy every single piece of property you see.
