Tired of a tiny 20 gig 360 HD? Install your own!

Xboxic: "Many 360 owners find that their tiny 20 gig hard drives are not large enough to handle all the demos and content they want to download from the marketplace. When you factor in the idea that you cannot even use all 20 gigs of the official 360 HD yourself (the rest is reserved for BWC updates/programs and system tools) this becomes even more of a problem. Microsoft have still not released a larger hard drive of there own yet but help is at hand.

From where you ask? Xbox-Scene.com of course! Xbox-Scene are well known for all kinds of modding advice, and whilst we must remind 360 owners that some of the activity described on the site is ILLEGAL and you should avoid breaking the law, there is no harm in being informed. There is nothing too dodgy about using your own HD rather than one from Microsoft, apart from the fact you could invalidate your warranty if you chose to do this. You might also break your 360 but that would be your risk to take.

The procedure is quite simple (well compared to most things like this) and described well on the website. Remember, if you do chose to mess about with your shiny 360 you are doing so at your own risk."

GRAW 2 demo assaults Xbox Live

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "It was rumored to hit by the end of January, and the GRAW 2 demo just barely made it. Released today on Xbox Live Marketplace, the demo clocks in at over 600 megs, so you'd best find something to occupy your time while it downloads. We suggest Heavy Weapon. You could also digest all of our previous GRAW 2 coverage. We've started our download and will give your our impressions later today. Anyone manage to snag this massive download already? How is it so far? GRAW-tastic? Oh, and the Fuzion Frenzy 2 demo has been re-released as well, so party fans may want to check it out."

512 MB Memory Unit listed on Gamestop

Xbox 360 Fanboy: "Back in early December we reported a 256 MB Memory Unit being listed on Gamestop. Apparently, the same page now lists the card as being 512 MB, double the capacity of the previously unconfirmed accessory. This definitely can support the rumors of the new 250 MB cap for arcade titles and even the 450 MB limit that needs Microsoft's approval. The $49.99 price tag isn't that bad, for those that utterly oppose buying a hard drive for their 360. With the 20 GB alternative out of the equation, ten bucks for eight times the storage is an obvious steal. So would you pick one up if your 360 is a Core, or you're profile is on the go between Xboxes?"

Sony Says Wii is Just “Impulse Purchase”

Next Generation: "Sony Computer Entertainment of America spokesperson Dave Karraker says Wii should not be directly compared to PS3. Interviewed by The New York Times today he said, “Wii could be considered an impulse buy more than anything else.”
Image Karraker added that Sony is selling out of the 100,000 PS3 units it is shipping into the US every wek. But, he added, “The frenzy we saw at the holidays has subsided a bit.”

Sony believes Wii is currently selling to casual gamers rather than committed gamers, who are likely to buy more games in the years ahead.

Meanwhile, Nintendo says its shipments of Wii into the US are equal to Sony’s and has described reports that Wii shortages are down to lower shipments as “absolutely inaccurate”.

GRAW 2 "Gimme Danger" Teaser Trailer in HD

GRAW 2 "Gimme Danger" Teaser Trailer in HD - Xbox: "Ubisoft released today the 'Gimme Danger' Teaser Trailer for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. 'Gimme Danger' was originally written and preformed by Iggy Pop and the Stooges and now it is revisited by Frank Black and 3volution Productions, exclusively for GRAW 2. Frank Black is well known as Black Francis, the lead singer of the iconic rock band, Pixies and is a prolific solo artist and acclaimed idol in the world of rock. The revisited version of 'Gimme Danger' offers the same intensity and danger you will experience when playing Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

What made Gimme Danger the perfect song for GRAW 2? The raw force and overall feel of the song perfectly capture the emotions of the game and relay exactly the type of power and intensity that every gamer wants too see in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

The driving nature of Gimme Danger creates the perfect backdrop for the action-packed gameplay and delivers just a taste of the frenetic action that awaits gamers in GRAW 2.

More on why Frank Black was the perfect choice and which other musicians participated in making this classic song even better will be fully revealed in the near future. Watch for official news on that, and the release of the full length trailer. But in the meantime... enjoy"

EB Clerk Murdered

Kotaku: "A San Antonio EB Games Clerk ws found dead in the store Monday afternoon, police there said.

Managers found Amber Belken, 24, at the store about 2 p.m. after going by the store to see why she wasn't answering the phone. Police said a witness saw Belken enter the store alone around 9 a.m. and that they believe she was confronted by her killer as she prepared for the store's 10 a.m. opening.

Police believe robbery to be the motive in the killing. Anyone who lives in the area and was near the store between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. should call police, 210-207-7635 if they have any information. Brian Crecente"

Crackdown Breaks Records

IGN: "US, January 30, 2007 - Microsoft's recent Crackdown demo, a free download available only for Gold Tier members on Marketplace, this week made Microsoft history.

That's right, beating out top downloads like Lost Planet and Fight Night among others, Microsoft's Crackdown demo, released on January 23, kicked everyone else's asses. Microsoft told IGN that this week the Crackdown playable demo was the most downloaded demo for a 24-hour period and the most downloaded demo during a seven day (week-long) period.

All this and the Halo 3 Beta wasn't even included. Slight jest there, but it's true. Perhaps gamers are finding they like Realtime Worlds' game more than they initially did? Perhaps word of mouth was the key? Perhaps co-op gaming was smartly realized in Crackdown (you could play the demo online with two players)? There are probably many reasons and all of these assuredly pertain.

Microsoft wouldn't release actual numbers, but is likely to do so in the near future."

XBOX360 Cheap Wireless

XBOX360 Cheap Wireless: "It is a tradition amongst console manufacturers to complete system functionality through official accessories at prohibiting prices. Microsoft’s XBOX360 isn’t an exception, though we will teach you in this article how to bypass and cut the costs of getting the official wireless adapter.

It is worth noting beforehand that common USB Wireless Adapters won’t work due to their nature, which requires drivers to function properly, and the XBOX360 only features drivers to its own official adapter.

But don’t lose hope. The console does feature a standard Ethernet port in the back panel, and is compatible with virtually any network equipment in the store shelves. This gives us a wide array of choices but remember, our mission is to save money so getting overpriced “Network Gaming Adapters” doesn’t really fit what we have in mind.

We will describe you in the following pages how you can wirelessly connect two routers in the same network, so that one can act as wireless adapter for the XBOX360 and being the other your regular main router."
