Halo 3 hits 4 million pre orders?

When I picked up the XBOX 1 at launch with Halo, I remember thinking to myself, wow this is one of the best games I have ever played but I had no idea that Halo was going to turn into the phenomenon that is has. There is a rumor going around that Halo 3 has hit 4 million pre orders:
