New Tom Clancy teaser hits the web

French publisher Ubisoft knows where the money is to be gained. Its multimillion-selling Tom Clancy franchises have become a chief source of income, and with every new installment the series’ seem to get more popular. Now they launch another teaser site for a new upcoming title.

Going to the site shows you a photo of a beaten man who seems to be either dead or unconscious, while a lot of military talk sounds and psychological analysis data is displayed on the screen, and clicking on different locations plays different audio clips. Talk of OPEC and NATO fighting, and reverse immigration into Asia fills your speakers to set the scene. IGN concludes:

While none of this really provides any insight into just what this game is exactly, it does illuminate what will hopefully be some thematic motifs. It appears that the man featured so prominently may be mentally ill, as the scrolling text often makes reference to his waning mental faculties. The biggest clue on the website really is the Rainbow Six icon lurking at the bottom of the page.

Sorry guys, that is not the Rainbow Six icon, but the Tom Clancy icon, prominently featured also on games of the Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon series. Since the latter just got a new installment less than a month ago, and Rainbow Six Vegas ended with an abrupt disappointing sequence promising a direct sequel, our dollar is on this being a teaser for that upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive fifth Splinter Cell game, planned for release late 2007 or early 2008. The developer working on the game, whatever it turns out to be, would be Ubisoft Shanghai.
