Xbox 360 leads over Wii, PS3 at Amazon

Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 leads in sales over rival next-generation video game consoles at the U.S. division of internet retailer Amazon.com.

The Xbox 360 is currently ranked No. 11 in Amazon's Computer and Video Games division, followed by Nintendo Co.'s Wii video game system at No. 18 and Sony Corp.'s Playstation at No. 65.

In addition, the Xbox 360 currently holds two products in the top ten sales, including the Wireless Controller and the action title Gears of War.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 outsold rival offerings from Nintendo and Sony during the holiday 2006 period in the U.S. and commanded 51% market share in the U.S. for the month of Dec.

Top game offerings include Gears of War, which has sold more than 3 million units, and non-gaming offerings like digital distribution of TV and movie content on Xbox Live and the HD DVD external drive.

Microsoft has sold 10.4 million Xbox 360s to date worldwide. It anticipates 12 million shipped by fiscal June 2007.
